Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Trust

CW+ is the official charity of C&W Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Their award-winning Arts for All programme brings creative disciplines such as music, arts & crafts, art therapy, and music therapy to the wards and patients’ bedsides.

IMPACT: To date, we have delivered 750 Therapeutic Art Books to patients and 450 Creative Care Boxes to patients and staff across both the Trust’s sites. We donated 200 Therapeutic Art Books to the trust’s ICU staff. We also ran a Dementia Cafe workshop with 90 patients and their carers.

The Royal Marsden Hospital for Cancer

The Royal Marsden is a world leader in cancer care, pioneering treatment and ground-breaking research. It is a centre of excellence with an international reputation for groundbreaking research and pioneering the very latest in cancer treatments and technologies, as well as specialising in cancer diagnosis and education. 

The Royal Marsden operates from two centres, in Chelsea and Sutton, and also have a Medical Daycare Unit at Kingston Hospital. 

HRH The Duke of Cambridge became President of The Royal Marsden in 2007, following a long royal connection with the hospital.

IMPACT: To date we have delivered 390 Creative Care Boxes across the Trust’s two sites, for patients and staff (primarily staff during the pandemic, since then monthly delivery of boxes for patients) and 100 Therapeutic Art Boxes for their Critical Care Unit staff.

 

The Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Hospital Trust

rb&hArts runs an innovative arts programme at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. It is designed to improve the clinical environment, improve patient experience, and enhance the well-being of patients, visitors, staff and the local communities surrounding each hospital. 

IMPACT: To date we have donated 115 Creative Care Boxes across the Trust’s two sites for patients and staff; 30 Therapeutic Colouring Books for all the paediatric cardiac ward over Christmas 2020; 240 Therapeutic Art Books for their ICU staff.

 

St John of God Geelong Hospital, Australia

St John of God Health Care is one of the largest Catholic providers of health care services in Australia. We are currently piloting our programme in partnership with the Arts & Health team at St John of God Geelong Hospital to deliver our digital resources and printed creative packs to patients.

IMPACT: We have been sharing our catalogue of unique colouring-in sketches digitally to St John of God Geelong since the onset of the pandemic, for patients and staff.

Camden & Islington Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) provides high quality, safe and innovative care to their patients in the community, in their homes or in hospital.

They provide services for adults of working age, adults with learning difficulties, and older people in the London area. They currently deliver the majority of their care to residents in the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington.  However, they also provide substance misuse services in Westminster, and a substance misuse and psychological therapies service to people living in Kingston.

In addition they  have specialist programmes which provide help and treatment for:

  • Veterans living in London

  • Young people caught in the cycle of gang culture

  • Older people living with dementia and other age related mental health conditions

IMPACT: To date we have donated 78 Creative Care Boxes for patients to Camden & Islington’s Crisis Team.

 

Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust (Addenbrooke’s)

Addenbrooke's Hospital is an internationally renowned teaching hospital and research centre in Cambridge, England, with strong affiliations to the University of Cambridge. Addenbrooke's Hospital is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

As an internationally-known university teaching hospital, CUH provide specialist services dealing with rare or complex conditions that need the most modern facilities, the most up-to-date treatment, and the best doctors, nurses, and clinical staff.

IMPACT: To date we have donated 50 Creative Care Boxes to the Hospital’s Maternity and Oncology wards; hundred of digital colouring-in sketches from our unique catalogue for download and distribution in the Hospital’s staff sanctuary space during the pandemic and 260 Therapeutic Art Boxes for the hospital’s Critical Care staff, including the number of repurposed doctors who helped support this area during the pandemic.

 

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust

County Durham and Darlington are one of the largest integrated organisations in the country, providing hospital and community services to a population of over 650,000.

They provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham and have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland as well as providing care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale. The trust further supports over 80 other community based settings and provides care in patients' homes.

IMPACT: To date we have donated 160 Creative Care Boxes to Chemo, Coronary Care and Respiratory wards across two of the Trust’s 8 Hospital Sites and 200 Therapeutic Art Books which were distributed for staff across Special Care Baby Unit; Maternity; Intensive Care; Geriatrics; Store Room; Porters; Laundry and Catering.

 

Royal Free London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & Royal Free Hospital School

Established in 1828 by William Marsden, a newly qualified surgeon shocked that he could not find treatment for a penniless young woman, the Royal Free's founding principle was that they would take in anyone who needed treatment – the first hospital in London to do so and the only London hospital to stay open during the 19th-century cholera epidemics.

In the 21st century, the trust continue to lead improvements in healthcare and are proud to have some of the best clinical outcomes in the country. The Royal Free Hospital School is a community Special School for pupils aged 5 to 16. The school is currently based across 4 sites. As well as offering education to children who are patients on the paediatric wards at the Royal Free Hospital and within the Royal Free Eating Disorder Service at Queen Mary House, they also offer a limited number of places on two alternative provision programmes for children experiencing medical or mental health challenges that mean they are unable to attend mainstream school. The school also manages the medical needs outreach teaching service for the local authority.

IMPACT: To date we have donated 216Creative Care Boxes to the Hospital’s staff sanctuary room during the pandemic and a further 250 Therapeutic Art Books delivered across the Hospital’s Renal Unit team; Neuro Rehab Unit, the Royal Free Hospital School, and to healthcare professional as well as Hospital support staff.

St Pancras Neuro Rehabilitation Unit

St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit provides treatment and support for patients whose physical abilities have been reduced through illness, such as a stroke, or a fall or a musculoskeletal condition.

IMPACT: To date we have donated 150 Creative Care Boxes to patients on all three wards of the St Pancras Neuro Rehabilitation Unit.

Geneva University Hospital (HUG)

The Geneva University Hospitals is one of the five university hospitals of Switzerland, and the largest one in the country. It is one of the largest hospitals in Europe.

IMPACT: In June 2021, we donated 400 books to the paediatrics unit of Geneva University Hospital as part of a project run with students of the International School of Geneva, in partnership with non-profit organisation “Philanthropic Adventures”. The book reflects a collection of colouring-in drawings designed by the group of 16 students aged 14-18 years old.
